RRB Railway Group D Syllabus 2018: Friends according to the Indian railway recruitment cell RRB has received more than 2 crore application for group D recruitment posts. Our PM and Railway minister has recently announced more 20000 jobs in this category to recruit Sub-constable and Constable and notification will be declared in the month of May.

This time RRB has released Group D Notification in February 2018 CEN_01_2018 with details of vacancies and other posts. Group D Recruitment details are as follows:

RRB Group D Exam Syllabus 2018

The Questions will be of objective type with multiple choices and are likely to include questions pertaining to:

1.) Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.

2.) General Intelligence and reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.

3.) General Science: The syllabus under this shall cover Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of the 10th standard level.

4.) General Awareness on current affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.

Railway Group D Exam Pattern 2018

For those who don’t know about Exam pattern and Syllabus, RRB will take ALP & Group D exam will be taken in ONLINE Mode in different cities according to RRB Sub-boards.

In the group, D Exam will be conducted in 2 Stages

  1. CBT Stage-1 (Computer Based Test)
  2. CBT Stage-2 (PET Test)

Stage-1: Computer Base Test

  • Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories : UR -40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST-30%.
  • Question Papers consist of multiple-choice objective type questions
  • There will be negative Marking as for every wrong answer and 1/3 marks will be deducted.

Stage-2: PET Test

Candidate needs to undergone by PET test if he/she clears Test-1 which is a computer-based test. The requirements of PET test are as follows:

RRB ALP New Exam Pattern 2018

This time RRB has made few changes in exam pattern in 2018 recruitment. As per the Notification RRB will conduct ALP exam in TWO STAGES (FIRST STAGE CBT & SECOND STAGE CBT) . RRB have also extended the Last date of registration from 5th March to 31st March. Candidates who will clear First Stage of CBT Exam need to clear Second stage of CBT exam based on Computer based Aptitude test.
NEGATIVE MARKING SYSTEM: In Notification, RRB has clearly mentioned that for every wrong answer 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for every Wrong Answer. But in the Second Round/Stage of CBT Exam, there shall be NO NEGATIVE MARKING.

These percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PWD candidates in case of shortage of PWD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.

RRB ALP First Stage Exam Syllabus

The First Stage CBT is of screening nature and the standard of questions for the CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the posts. The score of first stage exam shall be used only for shortlisting of candidates for second stage exam as per their merit. Candidates who are shortlisted for Second Stage CBT availing the reservation benefits of a community shall continue to be considered only against that community for all subsequent stages of recruitment process.

There will be a total number of 75 question based on 4 Given Categories in the 1st Stage CBT Examination:

Like Examination, syllabus is also divided in two parts.

PART-A

  • Basic Science and Engineering: The broad topics that are covered under this shall be Engineering Drawing (Projections, Views, Drawing Instruments, Lines, Geometric figures, Symbolic Representation), Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy etc.
  • General Awareness of Current Affairs: in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.

Candidates equal to 8 times number of ALP vacancies for each of the communities i.e. UR, OBC-NCL, SC and ST (including ExSM) shall be shortlisted for Computer Based AT (based on their performance in Part A of the Second Stage CBT subject to their qualifying the Part B of Second Stage CBT) from among the candidates who have opted for the post
of ALP. Such shortlisted candidates should produce the Vision Certificate in the prescribed format as per Annexure-VI in original during Computer Based AT, failing which they will not be permitted to appear in the Computer-Based ON.

Candidates will have to qualify in each of the test battery of Computer-Based ON for considering them for the post of ALP. The Computer-Based Aptitude Test shall have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi. There shall be no
negative marking in Computer-Based ON.

The ALP merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the Aptitude Test, with 70% weight for the marks obtained in Part A of Second Stage CBT and 30% weight for the marks obtained in Computer-Based AT. Candidates are advised to visit websites of RDSO (www.rdso.indianrailways.gov.in -> Directorates -> Psycho Technical Directorate -> Candidates Corner) for question patterns and other details of AT.
